Cash-Based Physical Therapy

I strongly believe Physical Therapy shouldn’t be something that is hard to access or takes you weeks to get an appointment, especially in the sports performance world. Therefore, we chose to have Alta Performance Physical Therapy to be a cash-based clinic, meaning we don’t take insurance. We did this for multiple reasons:

1)You don’t need a referral or a PT script to see us! From a minor ankle sprain to a hamstring strain to an ACL surgery or shoulder dislocation, you just book an evaluation, and we are usually able to get you in that same week, getting you back to your sport safely without wasting time.

2) Insurance companies do not reimburse well for PT services, so that is why most insurance based clinics have to see so many patients a day to make any money. If you have been to one of these clinics, you probably noticed your PT saw 2-3 patients at at time, resulting in you spending most of your appointment with an aide or left to do your exercises by yourself. We didn’t want this for our patients, so we are able to see you 1:1 for the entire hour to give you the best care possible.

3) We can more easily integrate your PT into your ongoing strength program. Because we have a full hour 1:1, we are able to address more in each session, and make a solid plan for your workouts to compliment your PT sessions. With this, we often don’t need to have as many PT sessions which usually saves you more in the long run even paying cash rates rather than a co-pay. If you don’t train with us, well maybe you should :), but we are still able to work with you to create a solid program that is tailored to you.

4)) Insurance companies often do not like to cover preventative care or return to sport care. Often when athletes get injured, once they are “out of pain” and ” day to day functional” they are discharged from PT, but that doesn’t mean they are ready to get back to their sport. There is a lot that goes into being able to perform at their prior level, and if their strength, mobility and confidence in not where it should be their risk of re-injury skyrockets. Not being tied to insurance approval, we can see that they are truly prepared to return to their sport.

So if there is anything your athlete wants to have addressed by a Physical Therapist, don’t hesitate to make an appointment here. No concern or issue is too small, we want them feeling their best.
